The Longest Table / A little more neighborly

    Pull up
    a chair.

A meal is a pretty good place to start a conversation. Downtown Lakeland’s Longest Table brings people together for food, fresh introductions and a little shared curiosity.

    Confirmed edition / 2026

    One table.
    Plenty of stories.

The confirmed 2026 edition is Saturday, November 14, from 11am–2pm, Eastern time, in Downtown Lakeland. The organizer describes a free community meal, conversations and a mural scavenger hunt.

This is an edition-specific guide, not a promise of an annual date. If you are reading after the meal, use the official site for the next announcement.

    Make room for someone new.

You do not need to arrive with a whole table of friends. Come ready to meet people and listen to a story that is not your own.

Let downtown be part of the day.

Use the organizer’s parking guidance before setting out. The mural scavenger hunt adds another way to notice the neighborhood.

Bring a question, not a script.

Try “What is one place in Lakeland you wish more people knew?” Then let the conversation take its own route.

A little extra kindness / Optional

    Good company.
    A good thing to bring.

Personal-care donations for VISTE are optional. Participation in the meal is not presented here as dependent on a donation. Check the organizer’s current guidance and VISTE’s own information for what is useful.
